Autumn Style

Why hello there.

Well it's that time of the year when leaves start to fall of the trees, it's getting colder and people start talking about Christmas when they should really talk about Halloween. Yes my friends, it's Autumn!

Personally, I'm all about Autumn. Especially after our strangely warm summer, I say bring on the cold! I can't wait to start wrapping up warm and getting the electric blanket out. Does that make me an old woman?

Autumn fashion is always fabulous, from wool hats to faux fur everything, I just love it.

So I'm going to show you three looks that I would wear for this season:

Casual Look:

Right okay, I know there is a lack of colour in this outfit but come on it's almost Halloween. What better reason to let your inner goth come out. Plus we all know black and white is a classic chic look. I'm loving duster coats right now and since the weather hasn't went proper cold yet, I felt it's a good choice! Light but still keeping you covered up.
I've made no secret of my love for ankle boots and disco pants, so naturally I had to add them into this. I think this is a good casual look for a day of shopping or afternoon cocktails!
Plus how amazing is that faux far bag!

This is a look that I have never tried before but just look. Makes a change from all the black eh?
Continuing for my love of faux fur, I just had to add this teddy style coat from Topshop. Looks extremely cosy and cute.
Grind print is pretty much every where right now and I love the 60's mod vibe it gives you. Paired with the bright pink top, I think it just makes the outfit pop!
 My inspiration for this look has defiantly came from the amazing barbie themed Spring/Summer '15 Moschino collection (which you should check out here)
I'm also a massive fan of the food themed bags that are around right now and I feel like this adorable ice cream one just works with this very girly look.

And lastly my more 'going out' look. This is a 70's inspirted look which makes a little change from the more mod look I'm seeing everywhere. Don't get me wrong, I love mod, but you can't beat a big faux fur coat like that one! They go with everything.
At the moment I am seriously lusting after Coco Fennell. The dresses are ridiculously beautiful and this is one of my favourites. Check out that embroidered neckline! *swoon*
To make it more of a 'going out' look, I've added these velvet heels from I Krush and at £19.99 they are a winner for me. Lastly, since it's such a bold look, a little simple sunflower choker from Noxious just fits in perfectly.

So there you go, some looks that I hope to be wearing for this Autumn.

My love affair with Armstrongs Vintage Emporium

Hello!

So today is a big day in Scotland and I could spend ages going on about my feelings on it all but I would struggle to be positive. So I'm going to share with you all one of my favourite shops in Edinburgh!

I wish I could remember the first time I went in there but I'm thinking it was when I was 16/17?

Love it or hate it, vintage clothes are everywhere right now and as you all will probably know, I'm a massive fan. From the 20's to the 80's, I love it all. I love how special, individual the pieces can be. I even weirdly like the smell. 

The minute you walk into Armstrongs Vintage Emporium you are just blown away by the range of stuff on offer. From wedding dress, kilts, wigs, sunglasses to shoes. They have so much!

It's a popular haunt for vintage lovers in Edinburgh and my go to place to find something that you won't ever get on the high street.

So I'm going to share with you some of my purchases over the years. Some of these photos are old, so you can imagine i'm cringing a little bit!

 Amazing red hat which sadly I cannot find anymore!

Steak 'N' Shake

Hello again!

I'm someone who tends to be unlucky when it comes to competitions but all that changed a couple of weeks ago when I won a meal for two at Steak Edinburgh!

Every Tuesday, they host a special offer of Steak 'N' Shake. Basically you get a 200g rump steak, fries and a tasty shake. 

To go along with this, they host a competition on Twitter to win a meal for two and naturally I had to enter. All you have to do is name your perfect milkshake using the hashtag #steaknshakeED.

After entering it for 3 weeks, I found myself as the winner!

So the week after, I got to pop along and finally try it out for myself. 

Inside the restaurant it's a lot bigger than you would think. Subtle lighting, wooden tables and high beams, it set's a really nice atmosphere. 

Since we were there for the Steak 'N' Shake, we didn't need to look at the menu but I did have a little peak. Let's just say I need to go back for a proper meal as it looks wonderful. Definitely the sort of place I would go to in a group before a night out.

 So after ordering our milkshakes, I went for a shortbread based one and Sam went for the banoffee, we got a little slice of bread to start us off. As soon as they mentioned one that is bacon and cheese, I had to go for it.

If anyone offers you bacon and cheese bread, you must go for it. I might make that my motto.

Onto the main event:

Now, I'm not someone who eats a lot of red meat but I do enjoy the occasional decent steak. In the past I was someone who hated steak and any time I got it, I had to have it well done. I soon came to the conclusion that was my problem, I need to have it medium rare.

Yummy milkshakes

A place called 'Steak Edinburgh' has to really live up to it's name and oh boy, it does!

From the beautifully cooked meat to the wonderful chips, I was a little bit in heaven. Obviously when you order from the normal menu, you get a bigger steak but personally this size suited me much better. 

I don't even think I need to talk about the milkshakes because, well, look at them. You just know they taste good.

So to sum up, I really enjoyed my meal at Steak and I found myself highly impressed as someone who is always a little wary of red meat. 

If you fancy a good steak, give them a try and then pop down to Beer & Skittles downstairs for a tasty refreshing beer.

Review: Body Shop Vitamin E Overnight Serum-In-Oil

So i've not been the best with my blog this last week, so apologies! Been a little busy but i'm back on track now.

So this is my second ever product review.. woo!

I was sent a product to review from The Body Shop at Fort Kinnaird and I couldn't wait to try it.

Body Shop Vitamin E Overnight Serum-In-Oil: £13

Now as someone who has pretty rubbish skin in general, I was excited to give this a go. Anything that will make my skin behave is always good in my book.

The product description on the website goes like this:

Wake up to beautiful skin with new Vitamin E Overnight Serum-In-Oil, a technical innovation combining the power of a serum and oil to indulge, replenish and recharge skin with moisture overnight.

• 8h beauty sleep for your skin
• Skin feels recharged, replenished and softer
• Skin looks fresher, rested and more radiant
• Our highest concentration of wheatgerm oil
• Non-greasy, fast-absorbing formula 

 All sounds good right?

So onto how I felt about the product!

The packaging is pretty adorable and in general, is one of my favourite things about The Body Shop. I find they have a really nice vintage look with their products.

The Oil comes in a glass pink bottle with a dropper. 

I have to be honest here, the dropped had me completely baffled at first. Like how can one girl get so confused by a dropper?

So being the rubbish girl that I am, I did wonder how I was to get it on my face. Did I put my head back and drop it on there? Obviously, that was not the case.

All you need to do is drop a little bit onto the palm of your hand, give it a rub and then apply to the face.

At first I was a little wary of putting oil on my face, I don't need my skin breaking out anymore, but it really absorbs into the skin and feels pretty nice.

I found that it does leave a little layer of oil on your face but nothing that bothered me when I went to sleep.

As you can see it is very clear. It has a slight scent to it but I didn't find it overpowering at all. 

Once you have rubbed it to the skin gently, it pretty much absorbs in quickly. 

So after a good week of using this, I feel like my skin is a lot softer and even a little bit brighter. It's almost like it wakes up your skin.

At first, I may of put a little bit too much on and did have a slightly oily face in the morning but after that I knew exactly how much my skin needed.

Overall I was pretty impressed with this product and think it will be great for when the winter comes. 

If you are someone with dry tight skin, I totally recommended this to you. 

(Just don't be as stupid as I was with the dropped situation!) 

It's £13 for the 28ml bottle which is a bargain to be fair. Especially since you don't really need to put too much on, I think it will go far.
