Beauty at Boots

Why hello there.

When it comes to make up and beauty products, I was quite slow getting into it all. I was never a massive fan of wearing a lot of make up when younger and even worse at taking care of my skin. In my late teens/early 20s that all changed. I am a big lover of beauty products and that love seems to grow more everyday. I was given the chance to try out some amazing samples from Boots at Fort Kinnaird!
So for this post, I am going to show you everything I received and give you a little insight into what each product is and which ones I just fell in love with. To make it a little easier as this will be a fairly longish post, I have grouped most of the products together by brand.

Benefit

They're Real Remover: First up is this little beauty. The they're real remover is to go along with the mascara and eyeliner of the same name, which I have yet to try but heard good things about. It's to remove quite simply any waterproof makeup. I actually tend to avoid waterproof makeup but I did find it incredibly handy for just taking off my usual eyeliner and mascara. A little bit goes along way and I found my eyes didn't feel sore which can happen with using your bog standard make up wipes.

Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow: This is one I hadn't actually came across before so was quite excited to give it a try. This is a oil free brightening foundation which is to help to give you a natural completion. Sadly the shade I had was little too dark for my ridiculously ghost like skin but I did love how light it felt on my face. Personally I am a girl who likes a matte look with my make up but I could see this being a good foundation for general day wear.

It's Potent! Eye Cream: Let's just start with saying that I loved this product. My eyes are one of my biggest problem areas on my face. I am forever battling to hide my big black bags and this eye cream was just fabulous at hiding them. Even though I only had a little tester, I saw a big change after a couple of days use. Word of warning though, it says to only use a little bit. Please don't be an idiot by putting too much on which ends up getting into your eye. It burns. Trust me.

Big Easy Multi Balancing Complexion Perfecter: I've never been a great lover of BB creams but this one claimed to be bigger than BB, so I was intrigued. This foundation claims to smooth and even out skintone and conceal imperfections. Again I had the problem of it being a little too dark for me but that aside I was not overly impressed. My skin can be a little dry and alas I think this product is more suited to oily skin types. It was just too drying for me.

Estee Lauder

Enlighten Dark Spot Correcting Night Serum: I have recently found myself quite a fan of Estee Lauder so I couldn't wait to try out more of their range. This serum, as it says in the name, is for night wear and helps to correct dark spots, blemishes and redness. I believe this product is one to use over time to get the full effect but after a couple of nights use, I found myself impressed. My skin looked a lot smoother.
Resilience Lift Firming/Sculpting Face and Neck Cream: The first time I saw a neck cream, I did laugh a little. My naivety made me believe you would never need such a thing. After being informed that with age, the skin on your neck will lose it's firmness, I started to think differently. Obviously, at the age of 24, I still have youth on my side but it is important to start looking after your skin. This little cream is to help keep your skin looking firmer, tighter and generally more youthful. I loved how smooth this product is on your skin and it's one I would think about in the future.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay In Place Make Up: I actually didn't even need to use this tester for this babe of a foundation as it's actually the one I already use. After a recommendation from my good friend and fellow blogger Ema (IsItVintage) I purchased this a couple of months ago. I quite literally swear by it. It stays on all day, it hides my dark spots perfectly and they do it light enough to match my ridiculous pale skin. If you prefer a more matte look like myself and want to hide spots etc, I say you have to try this foundation out.

Clairns

Lotus Face Treatment Oil: Now this product is especially for Oily/Combination skin types. I tend to have quite dry skin but I am actually more of combination girl and this little product is fantastic for that. It is to soothe and seal in moisture to prevent fine lines which is something I need to use more the older I get. Personally I only need to use a little bit of this product but I felt it made such a different to my more oily t-zone areas. I always worry when a product is called an oil as I get the feeling it will make my skin feel too greasy and produce spots but it really helped to make my skin feel smoother and softer.
Multi Active Day Early Wrinkle Correction Cream: As I mentioned before, wrinkle cream has never really been on my radar but after recently speaking to a couple of people, I am starting to realise that it's something that I should be bringing into my skin care regime. Now hands up, I originally dismissed this product and gave it to my mother. That's what good daughters do obviously, "Hey mum, have some wrinkle cream"... So sadly I can't really give you a little review of this product but I have heard fantastic things about it.

Eye Contour Gel: As you have learned from this post, I have puffy dark eyes and this product is to help combat those two things. I actually had this sample pinched off of me by my other half and have yet to properly try it out myself. After doing a little research I found out this gel is perfect for people with sensitive eyes or who wear contacts. So I will need to steal it back and give it a go! Moral of this story, do not let anyone know you have Clairns samples.

bareMinerals

Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream: The title of this product is a bit of a mouthful isn't it? bareMinerals is a brand that I love and I was not surprised when I found myself loving this. I know I am not a fan of BB creams but I really took to this product. It's incredibly light on your skin but still covers all those little imperfections I want to hide. I felt like I actually had nothing on my face which was a strange feeling for me. Without make up, I tend to resemble a character from The Walking Dead and I am not talking about any of the alive ones.

Bare Skin Pure Brightning Serum Foundation: "Shockingly" this sample was too dark for me but that is just the joys of having the palest skin in all the land. Honestly, I was so gutted I couldn't actually wear this foundation out as I fell in love with it. Putting aside the fact it didn't match my skin tone, like the cream above, it felt so light and natural. It lives up to it's 'Bare Skin' title. I've never been a massive fan of the dewy look but this foundation may have converted me. I think it would be a perfect one for the summer. If we actually get to see any of summer this year...

No7 and Smashbox

No7 Instant Ilussion Wrinkle Filler: So as I have mentioned above, I have been incredible dismissive of wrinkle creams. Almost arrogant you might say. Forgetting that age comes to us all. I've always been impressed with No7 and think sometimes they get dismissed to easily for top high end brands. I haven't had chance to try out this product yet but will be giving this ago soon on the any lines I have forming on my face.

No7 Protect and Perfect Advance: This is a product I have heard loads about before. Again it is for anti aging but it does many a thing. Restores a youthful appearance, adds firmness protects skin and helps to preserve collagen. It's very silky on the skin and I did notice a little different to the general appearance of my skin. It just felt a lot healthier!

Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer: I have saved my favourite for last. If you are a make up wearer and don't own a primer, I must question what you are doing. For a couple of years, I will admit, I never used primer but after trying out a benifit one, I realised what a difference it can make. This smashbox one is just fantastic. One the day that I first tried it, it was actually fairly warm and sunny, shocking I know. I always find when wearing either my glasses or sunglasses I have those annoying little marks next to my nose where it has rubbed my make up off. Well... not with this beauty of a product. My make up didn't budge an inch!

Now do remember with this review, though a product did not personally work for me that does not mean it won't for you. Same with any product I did love, as we all have different skin types that may not take to the same things. My biggest recommendations are the Smashbox Foundation Primer, Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation and Benefit's It's Potent! Eye Cream. Make sure you pop along to boots, speak to the staff and try them out!

Massive thank you to Boots at Fort Kinnaird and Hummingbird Communications for letting me try out these wonderful products!

Till the next time!
