Competition time with Zomato and Loudons Cafe & Bakery!

Hello!

Time for something a little different on FranklyMsShankly. My first ever giveaway/competition!
The team at Zomato have gave me the chance to let one of you lovely people win a lunch for two at Loudons Cafe & Bakery. I recently popped along there myself and had a wonderful little breakfast. Get ready to get hungry!
As you will all have came to realise I am a big fan of, well, eating. There is nothing I enjoy more than finding new places to try out in Edinburgh, so I was excited to get the chance to try out Loudons in Fountainbridge. Loudons is family run company which opened up in 2011 and specialises in being homemade and healthy! Don't get me wrong, I'm not the healthiest people in the world with my diet but it is important to look after those insides of yours. It's something I know I need to be doing more!

When I popped along, I got to try out their breakfast menu and I was not disappointed.

I am a big fan of eggs benedict and I've somehow found myself on my own personal mission to find the best ones in Edinburgh. The Roseleaf have one of the best around but Loudons might be stealing that crown. Instead of the usual bacon or ham, it came with pulled pork. Something I had shockingly never tried before until now but it's safe to say that I am now hooked! The eggs were cooked to perfection, soft and runny like a poached egg should be. My other half went for their big cooked breakfast which looked pretty amazing amazing. I naturally pinched a few things of his plate and it was really nice to have a 'fry up' and know it's not doing awful things to your stomach. Don't get me wrong, I love a big greasy fry up but having a healthier version was lovely.

One of the best things I found about Loudons is that they offer a lot of vegan and gluten free options which makes a really nice change. Infact the tattie scone in the full breakfast was gluten free and just as tasty as a normal one. When it came to our cakes I ended up going for the gluten free chocolate cake which was so rich, which is just perfect for me. Again showing just because it's gluten free, doesn't mean it has to be flavourless. I alas did not try the carrot cake myself but it looked quite wonderful.

The place itself is fairly large, bright and with a modern open plan. It also has free Wifi which is always a must if you want to check in and posts pictures of your amazing food with Zomato!

So onto my little competition. Thanks to the team at Zomato, I have a voucher for 2 lunches, 2 cakes and 2 drinks to giveaway to one lucky winner for Loudons Cafe & Bakery. All you have to do is share the following poster on Twitter, tag @FMShankly & @ZomatoUK and tell us what is your favourite healthy snack. It's as easy as that! The giveaway will end at 23:59 on the 12th of June and I will pick a winner at random on the 13th June. If you live in Edinburgh or will be planning to visit soon, it really is a wonderful place to pop in for lunch! So make sure you enter!

  1. This giveaway is such a dream! I've just spent the last 10 minutes browsing through the Loudons website and wow does it look amazing. Those cakes are making my mouth water and the brunch menu is to die for! I definitely need to pay them a visit next time I'm in Edinburgh :) I love nothing more than finding new places to eat and I'd never heard of this spot before.
