#GreatCitySwap - A Trip To Glasgow

Hello!

I love Edinburgh, this my friends is quite an obvious fact. I grew up in West Lothian but spent many a weekend hanging out in the capital, mainly on Cockburn Street 'cause you know 'goth life'. I always felt a connection with the city and made the move when I was 18 and I've never looked back (well I did briefly move back home but it wasn't for long.)

Edinburgh is a truly wonderful city and I couldn't imagine living anywhere else but sometimes seeing the same sights every day can get a little, dare I say, boring.

As much as I would love to jet off on holiday by bank balance says "hahahahah no" but that doesn't mean I have to stay planted where I am especially when you can pop on a train and be transported to another equally fantastic Scottish city.

Getting In The Halloween Spirit With Fort Kinnaird

Hello!

I love shopping, eating and watching films. Bring them all together and you basically get the most perfect day ever. That is exactly what I did one very windy Sunday!

Especially with Halloween just around the corner, this was the perfect time to have a spooky themed day out with my wee mother (who is also a fan of this time of the year).

OOTD: Ouija Board, Ouija Board

Hello!

October finally here aka the best month of the whole year. The weather has taken a turn for the worst, the shops are full of pumpkin spice and of course, Halloween is just around the corner.

After a year of stress, I am ready to actually make the most of my favourite month, so of course, I had to kick it off with a good old fashion OOTD post.

Frankly Fears: Found Footage Round-Up

Hello!

Cast your mind back to 2014 when I decided to do a little horror movie series for October. I spent the whole month watching as many horror films as I can then doing terrible reviews on them. I always meant to do it again but life got in the way as usual, plus my reviewing skills really were terrible.

However, with October fast approaching once again, I've decided it is time to bring it back but with a little twist. Okay, not so much a twist as it is clearly in the title but this time around I am going to focus primarily on found footage.

Love it or hate it, it's a genre which has kinda taken over the world of horror.

OOTD: Autumn, Stevie Nicks & My Feelings On Blogging

Hello!

It's finally September and you know what means - Autumn has officially landed. Okay, technically Autumn starts on the 22nd of September according to google but moving on...

It's been a while since I've posted on my blog and a new season seemed the perfect time to start getting into the blogging game again. Normally when I've been absent from blogging it's been due to some crappy health thing but for once this is due to good stuff aka starting my new job.

Now that I feel a little more settled as a working gal again and my health problems are a little less difficult, I feel this is the right time for me to get back to my normal routine.

OOTD: Nike Bomber Jacket

Hello!

Recently it feels like good luck is something that just passes me by but one department of my life has been pretty good - shopping!

So yeah, I am pretty darn skint so alas shopping hasn't been high up on my list but I seem to be on a roll when it comes to amazing charity shop finds.

In the last few months I've come across gorgeous dresses, quirky tops and a pair of leather look trousers that amazingly actually fitted.

However, these finds pale in comparison to the bad boy that I am about to talk about.

Review - The Salvation of Leith

Hello!

I've lived in Leith for over 6 years now and I am happy to call it home. What's been interesting about my time here has watching how much the area has changed, even in the fairly short time I've been living here. I've loved seeing new bars and restaurants pop up, so I was excited to get to try the menu at The Salvation of Leith*.

I'd visited The Salvation a couple of times before ahead of my 'foodie blogger' visit, though it had only been for drinks, I was already quite a fan so I was intrigued to see what their food menu was like.

An Evening With A Couple Of Photos

Hello!

If you check out my Instagram account you will see that I love a good selfie. It is very easy to shout about how vain my generation are due to our love of taking pictures of ourselves but is that a bad thing? We are told time and time again to "love ourselves" but as soon as you even show a hint of that you are ridiculed.

The art of the selfie isn't even a new thing. Yes, sites like Instagram and most of us owning a smart phone with a camera means that it is easier than ever to take and share one but self portraits go as far back as 1839.

Of course, this post isn't actually about my amazing (debatable) selfie skills but the wonderful work of A Couple Of Photos and my amazing portrait photoshoot with them.

OOTD: Tattoos, Blue Jeans & Moving Forward

Hello!

In the words of the great Ronan Keating - "life is rollercoaster, just gotta ride it" and by god, my life has been quite an interesting ride recently.

Before I go into the heavy stuff, for old time's sake have let's kick this post off with a good old fashioned OOTD!

The Forth Bridge, Steampunks and World Heritage Day

Hello!

If you read my last blog post or follow me on social media, then you will know all about World Heritage Day and the historical and fun adventure I was going on to visit The Forth Bridge

The amazing team behind Dig It! 2017 planned an amazing array of events to celebrate this special day. These events as well as showing the amazing Heritage sites we have here in Scotland also provided a great chance to learn something new and just have some fun!

As well as going to their Victorian Steampunk event, the Dig It! team sent me to South Queensferry ahead of the party to experience the famous Forth Bridge for myself.

Celebrating World Heritage Day with Dig It! 2017

Hello!

On April 18th 2017 I will be celebrating World Heritage Day with the Dig It! 2017 team. What is World Heritage Day you ask? Since this is Scotland's Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology, we will be celebrating six iconic World Heritage Sites with an amazing array of events which have all been coordinated by Dig It 2017.

This lucky red headed blogger will be attending one of those events and it is a good one.

What Does Depression Look Like?

Hello!

How many times have you read an article about depression and seen a photo of someone, normally a woman, with their head in their hands. Sometimes they are sitting in bed, sometimes the photo is moody black and white.

It is like the go to "depressed" look but why? Don't get me wrong I have spent many a time sitting in my bed with mascara all down my face but there is much more to it than that.

You see depression doesn't really have a "look". Yes, depression can have an impact on your physical appearance but it is different for every person.

If We Were Having Coffee...

Hello!

I've been seeing this type of post popping a lot recently and quite frankly I love it. It's a nice little twist on the whole about me kinda thing. Something which I am terrible at, as you can see by my own informative about me section.

My wonderful friend and straight up amazing human being, Lucie, tagged me in her post - which you should read right now. It is a lot more interesting than mine is going to be. Trust me.

So, get ready to hear some snippets of some of the rubbish I would tell you if we went for a cup of coffee. For the record, I will have flat white, even if my camera roll on my phone says I love cappuccinos (they are so damn pretty to be fair.)

Frankly Fashion: A Week In The Life Of My Wardrobe

Hello!

One question I will forever struggle with is "How would you describe your style?". I ramble a whole list of things from my love of monochrome to taking inspiration from pop culture but when it comes down to it, I really don't know how I would describe my style.

I've always been someone who likes to try new things fashion wise. I get bored and restless easy, plus the ex-actor (lol) in me loves the idea of dressing up. Not exactly being someone else but having fun and taking on a role or a theme.

I started off this week by pestering people around me to take outfit photos, come Wednesday I had a plan in mind. Why not take a photo every day at work then write up a little a "A Glimpse Into The Life Of Emily's Weekday Fashion Choices" (hopefully I've not used that as the actual title of this blog, apologies if I have. It's awful.)

Am I Having a Mid-Twenties Crisis?

Hello

I've been doing a lot of thinking recently. Not that this is something new for me seeing as my mind is a constant buzz of thoughts, good and bad. Most recently I have found myself questioning everything around me and reflecting on my life so far.

Now let me begin with saying that turning 26 is hardly 'old'. Let's be honest here, what is 'old' anyway? However, something about leaving my early twenties behind has had an odd effect on me. Am I having a mid-twenties crisis? Is that even a thing?

OOTD: Cakes and OTK Boots

Hello!

Every now and again something amazing happens. It might be you get the job you have always wanted, maybe you have realised you are madly in love or you know, you've found the perfect pair of over the knee boots...

This magical moment happened to me quite recently. There I was minding my own business in New Look and bam, my heart stopped (metaphorically not literally obviously). Hanging up amongst of sale boots and shoes, I found an amazing black suede pair of boots. To top it off they were the only pair left and in my size. It was fate.

Mental Health - Fighting Back

Hello old friend, it's been a while.

Yes, my blog has been a little abandoned recently. For several reasons but the main big one was down to my mental health. I haven't been doing too well if I am going to be straight up honest.

We all know how rubbish 2016 was. It seemed like so many of us struggled last year. All for different reasons and all incredibly valid. I've bitched and moaned about last year a lot, it kicked me down, chewed me up and spat me right back out.
