Autumn Style

Why hello there.
Well it's that time of the year when leaves start to fall of the trees, it's getting colder and people start talking about Christmas when they should really talk about Halloween. Yes my friends, it's Autumn!

Personally, I'm all about Autumn. Especially after our strangely warm summer, I say bring on the cold! I can't wait to start wrapping up warm and getting the electric blanket out. Does that make me an old woman?

Autumn fashion is always fabulous, from wool hats to faux fur everything, I just love it.
So I'm going to show you three looks that I would wear for this season:

Casual Look:

Jacket: Topshop Longline Throw On Duster Jacket: £79.00
Disco pants: New Look Black High Shine Disco Pants: £22.99
Boots: River Island Black Zip Front Block Heel Ankle Boots: £40.00
Shirt: H&M Oversized Shirt: £20.99
Necklace: Miss Selfridge Blue Navette Stone Necklace: £5.00
Hat: Topshop Big Felt Floppy Hat: £28.00
Bag: River Island Black Faux Fur Slouch Bag: £37.00

Right okay, I know there is a lack of colour in this outfit but come on it's almost Halloween. What better reason to let your inner goth come out. Plus we all know black and white is a classic chic look. I'm loving duster coats right now and since the weather hasn't went proper cold yet, I felt it's a good choice! Light but still keeping you covered up.
I've made no secret of my love for ankle boots and disco pants, so naturally I had to add them into this. I think this is a good casual look for a day of shopping or afternoon cocktails!
Plus how amazing is that faux far bag!

Smart Look:

Jacket: Topshop Faux Fur Teddy Coat: £79.00
Top: Miss Selfridge Crep Crop T-Shirt: £20.00
Skirt: New Look Fashion Union Monochrome Grid Print: £22.00
Shoes: Topshop GLORY White High Court: £58.00
Bag: ModCloth Soft Serve You Well Bag: $39.99

This is a look that I have never tried before but just look. Makes a change from all the black eh?
Continuing for my love of faux fur, I just had to add this teddy style coat from Topshop. Looks extremely cosy and cute.
Grind print is pretty much every where right now and I love the 60's mod vibe it gives you. Paired with the bright pink top, I think it just makes the outfit pop!
My inspiration for this look has defiantly came from the amazing barbie themed Spring/Summer '15 Moschino collection (which you should check out here)
I'm also a massive fan of the food themed bags that are around right now and I feel like this adorable ice cream one just works with this very girly look.

Going out look:

Dress: Coco Fennell Penny Lane Dress: £95.00
Shoes: I Krush Cecile Black Platform Heels: £19.99
Necklace: Noxious Sunflower Choker: £4.00
Coat: ASOS Vintage Faux Fur Longline Coat: £90.00

And lastly my more 'going out' look. This is a 70's inspirted look which makes a little change from the more mod look I'm seeing everywhere. Don't get me wrong, I love mod, but you can't beat a big faux fur coat like that one! They go with everything.
At the moment I am seriously lusting after Coco Fennell. The dresses are ridiculously beautiful and this is one of my favourites. Check out that embroidered neckline! *swoon*
To make it more of a 'going out' look, I've added these velvet heels from I Krush and at £19.99 they are a winner for me. Lastly, since it's such a bold look, a little simple sunflower choker from Noxious just fits in perfectly.

So there you go, some looks that I hope to be wearing for this Autumn.
Let me know which look is your favourite and want your lusting after this season!

Till the next time!

My love affair with Armstrongs Vintage Emporium

Hello!
So today is a big day in Scotland and I could spend ages going on about my feelings on it all but I would struggle to be positive. So I'm going to share with you all one of my favourite shops in Edinburgh!

I wish I could remember the first time I went in there but I'm thinking it was when I was 16/17?
Love it or hate it, vintage clothes are everywhere right now and as you all will probably know, I'm a massive fan. From the 20's to the 80's, I love it all. I love how special, individual the pieces can be. I even weirdly like the smell.

The minute you walk into Armstrongs Vintage Emporium you are just blown away by the range of stuff on offer. From wedding dress, kilts, wigs, sunglasses to shoes. They have so much!

It's a popular haunt for vintage lovers in Edinburgh and my go to place to find something that you won't ever get on the high street.

So I'm going to share with you some of my purchases over the years. Some of these photos are old, so you can imagine i'm cringing a little bit!

Amazing red hat which sadly I cannot find anymore!

Leopard print polo neck jumper. Which is also a leotard...

Striped skater skirt which I still wear to this day!

Not the best photo but this is a pretty hideous but amazing jumper.

Told you they do amazing sunglasses!

One of my favourite jackets ever.

Amazing tailcoat which I wore to a Rocky Horror night

Me and my lovely friend Heather posing with some wigs.

I will always regret not buying this jumper.

The amazing £14 dress I bought for my parents anniversary party!
Seriously look at that bad boy!

Slightly nuts 60s dress. Wish I had the balls to wear it more.

One of my new favourite. Was less than £20 and fits like a dream

I've bought loads more but sadly I cannot find photos of some stuff. As you can see I'm a girl who likes to change her hair and loves vintage clothes!

If you live in central Scotland or planning a trip to Edinburgh, you should totally check out Armstrongs.

Situated on the beautiful grassmarket, you can't miss it.
Also you can check them out here: http://www.armstrongsvintage.co.uk/

Are you a vintage fan or are you a skeptic on the whole thing?

I may do more posts about my favourite places in Edinburgh, so stay tuned!

Till the next time!

Steak 'N' Shake

Hello again!
I'm someone who tends to be unlucky when it comes to competitions but all that changed a couple of weeks ago when I won a meal for two at Steak Edinburgh!
Every Tuesday, they host a special offer of Steak 'N' Shake. Basically you get a 200g rump steak, fries and a tasty shake.

To go along with this, they host a competition on Twitter to win a meal for two and naturally I had to enter. All you have to do is name your perfect milkshake using the hashtag #steaknshakeED.

After entering it for 3 weeks, I found myself as the winner!

So the week after, I got to pop along and finally try it out for myself.

Inside the restaurant it's a lot bigger than you would think. Subtle lighting, wooden tables and high beams, it set's a really nice atmosphere.
Since we were there for the Steak 'N' Shake, we didn't need to look at the menu but I did have a little peak. Let's just say I need to go back for a proper meal as it looks wonderful. Definitely the sort of place I would go to in a group before a night out.

So after ordering our milkshakes, I went for a shortbread based one and Sam went for the banoffee, we got a little slice of bread to start us off. As soon as they mentioned one that is bacon and cheese, I had to go for it.

If anyone offers you bacon and cheese bread, you must go for it. I might make that my motto.

Onto the main event:

Now, I'm not someone who eats a lot of red meat but I do enjoy the occasional decent steak. In the past I was someone who hated steak and any time I got it, I had to have it well done. I soon came to the conclusion that was my problem, I need to have it medium rare.

Apologies to all veggies

Yummy milkshakes

A place called 'Steak Edinburgh' has to really live up to it's name and oh boy, it does!
From the beautifully cooked meat to the wonderful chips, I was a little bit in heaven. Obviously when you order from the normal menu, you get a bigger steak but personally this size suited me much better.

I don't even think I need to talk about the milkshakes because, well, look at them. You just know they taste good.

So to sum up, I really enjoyed my meal at Steak and I found myself highly impressed as someone who is always a little wary of red meat.
If you fancy a good steak, give them a try and then pop down to Beer & Skittles downstairs for a tasty refreshing beer.

Also just to finish..
How good does this Pina Colada look from Treacle?

Damn good is the answer!

Till the next time!

Review: Body Shop Vitamin E Overnight Serum-In-Oil

Hello!
So i've not been the best with my blog this last week, so apologies! Been a little busy but i'm back on track now.

So this is my second ever product review.. woo!

I was sent a product to review from The Body Shop at Fort Kinnaird and I couldn't wait to try it.

Now as someone who has pretty rubbish skin in general, I was excited to give this a go. Anything that will make my skin behave is always good in my book.

The product description on the website goes like this:

Wake up to beautiful skin with new Vitamin E Overnight Serum-In-Oil, a technical innovation combining the power of a serum and oil to indulge, replenish and recharge skin with moisture overnight.

  • 8h beauty sleep for your skin
  • Skin feels recharged, replenished and softer
  • Skin looks fresher, rested and more radiant
  • Our highest concentration of wheatgerm oil
  • Non-greasy, fast-absorbing formula
 All sounds good right?
So onto how I felt about the product!
The packaging is pretty adorable and in general, is one of my favourite things about The Body Shop. I find they have a really nice vintage look with their products.

The Oil comes in a glass pink bottle with a dropper.
I have to be honest here, the dropped had me completely baffled at first. Like how can one girl get so confused by a dropper?

So being the rubbish girl that I am, I did wonder how I was to get it on my face. Did I put my head back and drop it on there? Obviously, that was not the case.
All you need to do is drop a little bit onto the palm of your hand, give it a rub and then apply to the face.

At first I was a little wary of putting oil on my face, I don't need my skin breaking out anymore, but it really absorbs into the skin and feels pretty nice.
I found that it does leave a little layer of oil on your face but nothing that bothered me when I went to sleep.

As you can see it is very clear. It has a slight scent to it but I didn't find it overpowering at all.

Once you have rubbed it to the skin gently, it pretty much absorbs in quickly.

So after a good week of using this, I feel like my skin is a lot softer and even a little bit brighter. It's almost like it wakes up your skin.
At first, I may of put a little bit too much on and did have a slightly oily face in the morning but after that I knew exactly how much my skin needed.

Overall I was pretty impressed with this product and think it will be great for when the winter comes.
If you are someone with dry tight skin, I totally recommended this to you.
(Just don't be as stupid as I was with the dropped situation!)

It's £13 for the 28ml bottle which is a bargain to be fair. Especially since you don't really need to put too much on, I think it will go far.

What do you guys think of oil based products? I may be a convert now!

Thanks to The Body Shop and Fort Kinnaird for giving me the chance to try this out.
My skin thanks you!

Till the next time

OOTD: Sunday Shopping

Hello!

Time for a little OOTD and to show you a couple of things I purchased today!

Necklaces: Noxious
Shirt: Primark
Vest: Primark
Jeans: Primark
Bag: Primark (noticing a theme here?)
Shoes: Sun Jellies

Now after all that lovely weather over the summer, it has been a little on the rainy/cold side again. I planned in my head to wear black dress, black tights, boots and big coat but of course the sun decided to come out to play again. Not that I'm complaining but it caught me off guard!
So since Sunday is a lazy day, I decided to go for a fairly relaxed casual outfit.

I'm finding myself wearing jeans more which is good but still so weird for me. I have such a love/hate relationship with them but I love these ones from Primark. They are called "push in, push up" and they really live up to that name! Good for keeping those wobbly bits in check.

Recently I won a competition on Instagram that was hosted by Sun Jellies, DIY Nails & Karen Mabon to win a pair of amazing jelly shoes and adorable nail decals! Naturally I had to wear my new jellies today. They are so pretty and comfy!

I was so excited to get the nail decals as I've never actually tried them before. These ones are a collabration between DIY nails and Karen Mabon (amazing scarf designer), so of course they were going to quirky and cute!

The thing I love about these decals is that my parents are having a Las Vegas themed party for their anniversary in a couple of weeks, so these will be perfect for it. Cards, dice and Elvis!

I also finally got a chance to wear my Noxious necklaces that I spoke about in my previous post.

I love them so much and I finally managed to get picture that shows how music the topaz is in the necklace! It's stunning in the sun.

So onto my shopping trip!
Originally the plan was to head to Armstrong's (amazing vintage shop in Edinburgh) and find a dress for my parents' party. Sadly that did not happen. I did find the most spectacular sparkly dress but alas it was just too big.
However, I did find this little number:

I believe it was £12 and I just fell in love with it. Just seems to fit perfectly and I love the floaty hippy vibe it has. I really didn't need it but at the price, I couldn't leave it behind. Hopefully get a chance to wear it this week.
I do love a good vintage find.

So after that we popped into The Villager and had a quick cocktail

It is called a Gutter Glitter and it was perfect for a relaxing sunny Sunday afternoon. Malibu, Cherry Marnier with a Basil and Almond syrup. I do love my cocktails and this one is gorgeous, might end up in my favourite list. Infact I should do a post about my favourite cocktails in town.
What's your all time cocktail?

I also popped into good old Primark and found this bad boy:

HARRY BLOODY POTTER PAJAMAS
Of course I had to get them. I don't even think I need to explain why.
They are fantastic and so so comfy!

So there you go, a little peak into how my Sunday went, let me know about your best vintage find and cocktail!

Sadly I didn't watch the fireworks tonight, mainly because I'm wary of them and I fancied watching Made In Chelsea (don't judge me)

Hope you guys had a lovely weekend!

Till the next time!

New Logo & Dollybird Clothing

Hello!
Now as some of you may have noticed, I have a logo now!
How exciting!

I had wanted a logo for my blog but due to my lack of artistic skills, this was just not happening. It's very frustrating when you have an idea in your head but your hands just won't make it happen! Damn those hands..

I put up a post on my Facebook page asking if anyone would be interest in making a design for me and the lovely Lesley McConnell responded. I told her my rough idea and some days later she sent me the logo.

So yeah...... I bloody love it!
It's what I had in mind but 10 times better.
What do you guys think?

Now other than making awesome logos, Lesley also has a online vintage clothing shop called Dollybird Clothing which you can check out here: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/DollybirdClothing
If you are, like me, a massive vintage lover then you have to check it out. All the clothes are hand picked amazing vintage pieces or reproductions. DollyBird Clothing specialises in 60s/70s, which I personally think is the best eras for fashon.

Recently she did a photoshoot for the shop and I have some pictures to share with you!
I will put a link for each piece under the picture. If I haven't it sadly means its reserved or sold out.

Make sure you all check out the etsy shop and grab a beautiful vintage item.
Also check out the Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/DollybirdVintageClothing

And a massive thank you to Lesley for the logo. It's everything I wanted and more!

Till the next time!

Noxious is here!

Why hello there!
Guess what time it is?
You got it?
No?

Well it's a new post time, that's what it is!

The ever so lovely Carrie from http://carrienoxious.wordpress.com/ (one of my favourite bloggers) has opened up an online shop full of gorgeous handcrafted jewelery. The range is just stunning. From grungy chokers to vintage style pendants, there is so much to choose from. Plus all the pieces are assembled by hand and you can custom order!

Now, Carrie being the total babe that she is, sent me and some other bloggers a couple of necklaces from the range.

There is nothing more exciting than coming home from a long day at work to find a bright pink package waiting for you. Especially one that has your blog name on it! Exciting!

I love candy stripe packaging!

So onto the necklaces:

The first necklace is this stunning Mystic Topaz Talisman Necklace. The description on the website for it is:

"Mystic Topaz: Believed to help you embrace change and reduce cold emotions from those you attract around you"

Now sadly I'm lacking a decent camera currently so you can't get the full of effect of how gorgeous it is but trust me, it's beautiful.  It has such a rustic vintage feel about it and would look great paired with a simple little tea dress.

This is just right up my street. As we all know chokers are very "in" at the moment and this one is just wonderful. Again due to my rubbish camera, you don't get the full effect from it. The faux suede has a real silvery glittery look to it!
Being a big fan of the slight "gothic" things in life, the cross design really appealed to me. I love how the heart keeps it girly though.

As you can see,  the pieces are gorgeous and beautifully made. I can't wait for payday to rear it's head to make a few purchases!

So basically....you all need to check out the shop now and treat yourself!
Do it now!

I can't wait to feature them in some future #OOTD posts!

Till the next time!
