How would I style this...

Little Black Dress.

So hello there you lovely people, time for a little blog post. Now I'm doing something a little different than my usual rambling. The lovely people at Wear Eponymous are currently hosting a fantastic little competition. You are to pick one of your favourite items from their awesome range and then show how you would style it.
Right up my street!

So I had a look around and found so many cute items but I decided to play it, well, a little safe and go for everyone's favourite LBD.

Let's be honest, you just can't go wrong with a dress like this. Simple, classic and I may add flattering shape and we all know black goes with everything. Dress it up, dress it down, you just can't go wrong!

So how would I style it?

Well at the moment, I'm going through this 90's goth, e.g The Craft phase. So I would for sure put that in there but still keeping it pretty modern.

Now let's begin, i'm going to start from the head downwards.
I love love love love love LOVE a hat.
No, really I love hats.
So naturally I had to pick one for this outfit.

Just adding a fedora like this to your outfit can just edge it up a little. So my top tip is when in doubt, shove on a hat!

Now today the sun is shining, but it's still bloody cold. So I think we need a little jacket for this outfit:

There is a lot of black in this look so I felt the need to add a little bit of colour in there. I'm adoring pastel colours, especially pinks like this. Sadly, I don't actually think I can pull the colour off due to the old ginger hair I have going on at the moment.

Now for some tights:

I'm such a fan of crazy tights. Sometimes I don't have the "balls" to pull them off but I think every girl should own a pair of tights that isn't just black or sheer. Just adds a little bit of fun to your outfit.

Time for the shoes:

You just cannot go wrong with a good pair of boots. I'm currently on the hunt for a new pair as my good old Chelsea boots are dying on me. I'm in love with these bad boys from ASOS. So cute and the buckles add something a bit different to it.

So last but not least, some jewellery:

Necklace: Rock 'N' Rose Vintage Art Deco Cross: £22.00

This necklace is just beautiful and it fits in with my slight 90's/Craft theme. So since we have crazy tights and a big necklace, I felt a simple delicate little bracelet would work best.

So I hope you have all enjoyed the look i've put together and you should tell me how you would style this dress.

Also, check out Wear Eponymous and their fantastic range and you still have time to enter their competition: http://www.weareponymous.com/

Vintage Clothing, Macarons and Cocktails.

My three favourite things.

So this is just a little post about how I spent my weekend. Some weeks ago my lovely mother bought tickets for Vintage Nation in Edinburgh. Hosted by the fantastic Judy's Vintage Fair. Now everytime they come to town, I am sadly working so I made sure I could make this one.
I'm so glad that I did. As soon as I walked into the Corn Exchange, I was greeted by the sigh of some wonderful Macarons.
I am always on the hunt for them in Edinburgh and i've never had much luck (any edinburgh readers fancy helping me out with that?)
So, of course I had to buy them.

They are made by the lovely Mademoiselle Macaron. Due to sharing them with my mum, we picked 8 flavours: Raspberry, Pistachio, Chocolate & Passion Fruit, Rose, Lavender, Vanilla, Hendricks Gin, Innis & Gun.
My favourite had to be Chocolate & Passion fruit. Was just the tastiest little thing ever.
You should check our their website: www.mademoisellemacaron.co.uk

So after a good sugar fix, we went for a little snoop round the actual market.
The amount of stalls were amazing. You really could have spent all day raiding through the many racks of clothing.
My first purchase of the day came from an adorable little stall from Bunny's Beads.
I just fell in love with their jewelery. Such quirky and cute little pieces.
The first thing I noticed was Star Wars, Doctor Who and Sherlock themed necklaces. The geek inside me just popped out. I was could have bought loads but I ended up finding two necklaces that I just couldn't not buy.

By now you must all be aware of my Batman obsession and even more my obsession with Harley Quinn. I just adore her and at the moment i'm going through a big phase of buying lots of Harley related stuff. Bascially, these necklaces are beyond adorable and if like me, you love to bring out the inner geek, you should check them out on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Bunnys-Beads

Now in my dream world, I could have spent so much money but realistically that wasn't an option. I was on the hunt for a dress and by god did I find one!

Right now I am totally loving very floaty, hippy, Stevie nicks inspired dresses. The moment I found this dress, I just fell in love. You can't see it very well in the photo, but the under dress is actually a very pale pink and the over dress has a tint of green too it. At first I was worried about how it would go with my colouring let's be honest I'm pretty bloody pale but I think it works!
The stall I got this from is called VI Nouveau and again here is their website: www.vinouveau.co.uk

I never got any photos from the last stall I will mention but it was one of my favourites. I'm on the hunt for some new glasses. I do like mine but I've had them for years and I'm getting a bored of them and let's face it, I never ever wear my glasses and I need to be inspired to actually start putting them on.  Retro Peepers had the most amazing selection of glasses. All inspired by the 40's, 50's & 60's.
I can't wait to order myself a pair called "Ella Earth". Give them a check out: www.retropeepers.com

So after watching the fantastic acts that were on and buying even more macrons, it was time to leave.
As soon as we got back into town, we were feeling a little thirsty, so it was off to my new favourite place 52 Canoes Tiki Den.

This drink is called The Money Shot. (notice the very phallic imagery going on with my fruit)
If any of you are in Edinburgh, then you should for sure, check this place out. The cocktails are so tasty.

We also ended up in Tigerlily for another cheeky cocktails.

Lastly, here is my outfit from the day:

Dress: Pop Boutique @ ASOS
Necklace: Primark
Shoes: Primark
Rings: Primark

So yeah, this posted ended up a little longer than I thought but hope you've enjoyed reading it and you check out the links i've posted. I can't wait for the next time Judy's Vintage Fair come along and maybe see some of you lovely people there!

I'm no Derek Zoolander....

...But I recently did some modelling.

So some weeks back my lovely friend sent me a message asking if I would model for her and how could I say no!
Of course after saying yes, I was full of dread. I've never seen myself as a model, the closest I've ever done to that is helping out at a charity fashion show.  In real life I'm pretty shy and more or less awkward. So naturally I was already doubting myself.
Luckily, I pushed those silly thoughts of mine aside and last Friday got myself on the train to Glasgow for the shoot.

The shoot was pretty much "floral/hippy" based (a theme that I love) and was set in The Botanic Gardens.

So there I was, sitting on a bench in the Glass House getting my hair and make up done by some lovely and very talented ladies.
Now for someone who is a little on the shy side of life, there really is nothing more daunting than looking up to find people walking by and staring at you. Then again, there is something kind of exciting about it.

So anyway, here are some of the pictures from the shoot:

I absolutely love how they turned out. I'm going to be honest, I was worried. The girls did an amazing job on my look and the photographer was amazing but I did worry about how my silly wee face was going to look. Thank god for good makeup and photography I say!

So here is my life lesson for the day, when you get asked to do something that is exciting but nerve wracking, then you should always go for it! You never knew, you might love it.

So much credit has to go to the lovely ladies that made me look like a fairly decent looking human being. You should check them out:

MUA: Melissa
HAIR: Sheryl

Lastly, now I did say in my last post that I was going to talk about The Oscars. Well, that never happened. I've actually not been well the last few days, so I've spent most of my time feeling sorry for myself (as you do)
But this Sunday, I shall be going to Vintage Nation. So I'm sure I will be blogging about all the amazing things I see and buy from there.

So, let me know if you've ever done something that you were crazy nervous about but turned out to be a blast.

Till the next time you lovely people

Stepping out of my comfort zone.

So to start with, I must apologise for the lacks of posts recently. I would like to say I've been a busy little bee but that's a lie. In truth, I've been a right lazy cow!

I'm hoping to do a post later in the week about The Oscars and my favourite looks from it, but for now I shall share with you some of my outfits from the last week.
Now anyone that knows me well, knows my love for skirts and dresses. I'm very rarely seen in trousers.
The reason for this is, quite honestly, I feel like I have a strange figure. Anytime I have worn jeans, I just feel like they look weird on me and highlight my "slightly" large bottom and thighs.
So I've always played it safe with a nice dress and a good pair of tights but recently I've branched out and bought some jeans and disco pants. I still feel mega out of my comfort zone but bugger it, they are just so comfy!

So first of all, this is an outfit I wore when my lovely best friend came to visit:

Kimono: Primark
Vest: Primark
Disco Pants: Primark (again)
Chelsea Boots: Topshop
Necklace: New Look

Now this was an outfit that made me feel VERY out of my comfort zone. I do love my disco pants but in the past I have worn them with slightly oversized shirts but for this outfit I went with a fairly tight vest. Somehow I think it worked and I didn't feel too massive. Good old black is slimming after all!
Plus I just adore my kimono.

Next up:

Denim Shirt: my mother's
T-shirt: Ebay
Disco Pants: as before
Chelsea Boots: as before

So again I decided to be brave and wear yet another tightish top with my disco pants. This outfit was just for wandering around the shops. So kept it even more casual by shoving on a denim shirt that my mum gave me.

And lastly:

Coat: River Island
Shirt: Primark
Jeans: Primark
Necklace: Primark
Boots: Primark
Bag: Not sure actually (had to for ages)

Okay okay, I've realised that alot of my outfits involve Primark. What can I say? I just can't resist them.
I love this shirt so much, but I've struggled in the past to find other things to wear with it. If you have any other ideas on what would go with it, do let me know!
Again, I'm not a fan of jeans but I do love these ones. Mainly because they push in my stomach and push up my bum a little. The perfect jeans and cheap as chips too!

So there we go, a quick wee post about my outfits. Hopefully will start making more of an effort with this blog of mine and try not to be so lazy in future.

Let me know if you have the same fears about trousers/jeans.

Thanks for reading!

NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA BATMAN!

Who doesn't love The Caped Crusader?

Anyone who knows me well, understands my love for Batman. I was obsessed with bats as a little girl, so it's no surprise that I became a big Batman fan. I could rant away about my love for it but I'm keeping this post short and sweet.

So a few days ago, my brother's lovely girlfriend tagged me in a photo on instagram. This photo was posted by none other than Black Milk Clothing. A brilliant Australian company which I love but I always felt I would never be able to pull of their amazing clothes. This post was advertising their new Batman collection. I was MEGA excited, especially because one of the photos showed a girl dressed up as The Joker whilst wearing a Joker swimsuit.
Now let's be honest, Bruce Wayne is cool and all but my favourite thing about Batman is the villains.
I find them so interesting and they just grab my attention more.

Last night (in the UK), they launched said collection and oh boy, was I happy!
So I'm going to post a couple of my favourite items.

Golden Age Leggings: $85.00 AUD
(£46.34)

Differently Sane GFT: $59.99 AUD
(£32.71)

 Poison Ivy Swimsuit: $100.00 AUD
(£54.52)

Killing Joke BF Bomber: $120.01 AUD
(£65.43)

And lastly, the one I actually ended up buying (I just couldn't resist)

  Joker's Revenge GFT: $60.00 AUD
(£32.71)

I had to stop myself buying more, especially that bomber jacket. Supposedly it takes about 3 weeks for my t shirt to arrive but I can't wait. Already thinking of what outfits I can make from it.

If you are a Batman fan, you should totally check them out on the Black Milk Clothing website.
Let me know which one is your favourite!

Animals and Old Clothes.

What have I been up to this week?

Well quite honestly, not very much. Work has taken over my life this week so sadly I didn't get much chance to really do anything else. However, I did manage to do a little shopping on Friday. I'm supposed to be saving money but does it ever really work out that way?

As soon as I saw this tshirt in Primark, I just fell in love!

For only £6, I just couldn't resist. They also have Snow White, Cinderella, Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland ones. I'm most likely going to go back and get some more as they just so cute and I love how they can be dressed up or down.

So after a pretty boring week, I was so glad to be off on the Sunday. It's my dad's birthday soon, so we had a wee day out at The Five Sisters Zoo. I had never been before but like many, I was so sad to hear when they had a fire last year. Just awful to think about the poor animals they lost. It was really nice to visit and see how much work they are putting into building everything back up again. Also I am such a sucker for animals.

Here are a couple of my favourites:

Sadly the weather wasn't up to much but that didn't spoil our day really. You can't beat spending some time with the family anyway.
I can't wait to go back again in the summer, especially as they will have a lot more back. If anyone is in the West Calder area, I highly recommended going.

Also they have a little cafe just outside the zoo, where you can get a lovely hot chocolate (very much needed after being the cold and rain)

Later on we headed to The Bayleaf Indian Restaurant in, my hometown, Pumpherston.
Now, I'm not a big fan of Indian food. My hatred for anything spicy and anything to do with Onions stops me ever enjoying it but I my dinner was lovely. It was a little buffet sort of deal. They bring a big plate of starters to the table (the chicken pakora was gorgeous) and then you go up to get your mains. I pretty much gorged myself on the starters as the mains were all curries (not a fan). I have it on good authority that the mains were really tasty though.

Now onto to the old clothes that were stated in my title. Due to it being bloody freezing, I really wanted to find my mega old parka. I haven't worn this bad boy since my goth years in Highschool but I seem to be going back to my roots these days, so I really wanted to hunt it out.
So upto to the attic I went!
I thought it was going to take me ages but to my surprise it was in the second bag I looked in.

Yes it's ever so slightly dated but I do love it. Plus, it's bloody comfy and warm.
But that wasn't all that I found. Oh no, I found this bad boy of a dress. I remember buying it in Armstrongs in Edinburgh years and years ago. Why I had just dumped it in the attic I will never know!

I am still in shock that it actually still fits as well. So that is my tip for today, always check out the old clothes in your attic. You never know what you  will find!

So that is all for tonight, it's been a pretty picture heavy post but let's be honest, writing is and never will be my strong point. So let's end it all with a little OOTD.

 Dress: Primark
Necklace: New Look
Bracelets: Primark

Well thanks for reading and let me know, have you ever found some amazing long lost clothing in your attic?

Till the next time.

(also you may have noticed the change in colour of my hair in the photos, it's not a work of magic but the work of my lovely mother and a bottle of hair dye!)

Cocktails and Limbo

A day in town

Who doesn't love a day of drinking cocktails? I for one love it. So Sunday just there I had a day off work and for once so did Sam. It's not often we get time off together and after our long January with no money, it was only right that we treated ourselves. First of all we had to head down to Ocean Terminal to get a few odds and ends. I managed to find myself some mega cute nail wraps for £1.50

I'm not great when it comes to doing my nails but I can't wait to try these out.

After our mini shopping trip, we headed into town to start our evening of drinks. We met up with my lovely parents who were also out in town for the afternoon. First place we ended up in was Juniper. I had heard of it many times before but hadn't actually went to it. It's right on Princes Street and it's very nice. A little on the fancy side but I would very much go again. Plus, you also get some lovely views of Princes Street. I got myself a Twister, clearly based on the ice lolly, it was one tasty drink!

After that lovely drink, we moved on to The Voodoo Rooms. Again, another place I heard about loads but had yet to actually visit. I am so glad we did go there as it is absolutely stunning inside and I just loved it. The cocktail menu is just brilliant. With names like Coffin Dodger, Elixir Of Life, Gingerbread Wicker Man and Beast From The East, how could I resist? I ended up getting The Benzini. Any drink that contains popping candy is always going to grab my attention. The whole feel of The Voodoo Rooms just excited me to be honest and it's somewhere I will have to go back.

Sadly after that fantastic drink, my parents had to head home so we headed up to Red Squirrel and then Lebowskis. Both places are great for a drink and I totally recommend them.

But now we move on to the highlight of my night. My little brother had mentioned recently about a bar called 52 Canoes Tiki Den, so we thought let's check it out. As you can guess by the name it's a Tiki themed place and with that it's very colourful and tropical inside. I've realised that I really do love a themed bar.
The cocktail menu is really good and very reasonable price wise. I got myself a Donkey Punch. It had everything that I want from a drink. Sweet, quirky and in a fantastic glass. The sort of drink I would imagine having on holiday.

So as we were enjoying our drinks, we realised that they had a pub quiz on a Sunday night. A pub queeze they call it. We had no other plans for the night, so we thought why not? A little pub quiz could be nice....

This is very different to any pub quiz I have been to before. It ended up being a crazy amount of fun. From Limbo to Beer Pong. I had a blast (I think my back disagrees with that though)
Most pub quizzes, you just sit there and answer the questions but this one you got totally involved in. I have to say that all the staff at 52 Canoes are really lovely, which added to our great night.
I never thought I would be trying to pick up a cereal box off the floor with my teeth when I was getting ready to go out but there you go!

To add to our great night, we managed to win best name (Quiz on my tits) and, by some insane amount of luck, we won overall! Our awesome prizes were a block of Camembert (my all time favourite cheese) and two vouchers for a Tiki Burger. I can't wait go back and try the food!
It's on Mellvile Place, so you should all check it out. Especially go to the quiz night. You might be a little sore the next day but it's worth it.

So to round this all up and to let me go back to sleep (I'm still feeling MEGA rough). Here are some pictures of my outfits from yesterday:

Top: Primark
Jeans: Miss Selfridge
Boots: Primark
Necklace: Primark
Bracelets: H&M

Dress: Asos
Necklace: As Before
Earrings: Primark
Boots: Topshop

Till the next time
