OOTD: Disco Pants and Bowie

Hello again! Time for a little OOTD post.

So tonight I went out for a couple of drinks. Probably the first time I've been out on a Friday night and of course I was home before 11pm. The joys of working at weekends eh?

Also i'm slowly turning into a boring old woman but hey ho!

This morning, a little package arrived for me from the lovely people at Wear Eponymous

Of course I had to incorporate into my outfit for this evening.

So since it was just "casual drinks" I felt a nice basic white tshirt and disco pants would work. 

I'm pretty much in love with my Bowie brooch from Peachy Keen and it's basically living on my black Primark blazer. 

Statement Metal Necklace: £12.00

This is the gorgeous necklace from Wear Eponymous. When wearing such a plain boyfriend tshirt is really jazzes it up and adds a feminine touch. I can see me pairing it with a maxi dress and kimono for a more casual day look.

I'm not going to lie, I was not originally a fan of the jelly shoe. I am a fan of the 90's trend currently going on but they seemed a little too much.

Eventually I gave into their charm and ended up buying a pair a couple of days ago. I love them!

Okay, so they make your feet incredibly sweaty but they do add a little quirky edge to an outfit. For someone who is terrible in heels, I like how I can feel tall in them but can actually walk.

Thought I would add in a picture of me at The Shore in Leith. How gorgeous does it look?

Leith gets a bad rap sometimes but the amount of amazing bars, bistros etc, it's really worth checking out!

Bowie, Pop Art, Bows & Peachy Keen

Hello again! 

So today my post is going to be based around some amazing jewellery that I received the other morning!

So let's begin:

A couple of weeks ago the lovely Laura from Peachy Keen posted on Instagram asking if any bloggers would be interested in featuring her gorgeous jewellery and accessories on their blogs. I pretty much jumped at the chance!

Her range is made up of Kitsch & Vintage inspired handmade pieces. Totally up my street.

We all know that accessories can really make an outfit come together and I really feel her style works for me perfectly. 

So a couple of days ago, a little package came for me.

I love the candy stripe packaging. Really adds to the retro/kitsch feel of it all!

So of course I was pretty excited to see what was inside as Laura picked them to give a "goody bag" feel of it. So onto what I got:

So yeah...I was pretty darn happy!

I am a massive Bowie fan, so I was so happy to get the brooch. I can't even begin to describe how amazing it looks. I recently wore it with a black jacket and it just stands out so well. I think this brooch is going to get incorporated into several of my outfits!

Large Pop Art Necklace - £6

I'm also a fan of Pop Art so this necklace was right up my street. Paired with a cute little shift dress, this really is a big nod to the 60's.

  Mirror Bow Ring - £3

For people that know me and have met me, you may have noticed I have a big old bow tattoo on my wrist, so I was pretty happy to receive this adorable ring. The colour of it is very striking and I love the mirror effect it has.

How Good Is Your Hood

Hello again! Time for a little blog post and this one is little different.

It's a blogger competition! How exciting!

So over the weekend I was contacted by the very lovely Lynsay aka Miss West End Girl to take part in this little competition. Now some of you probably know of Chouchou but if you haven't (do it now) here is little introduction about them:

I funnily enough got introduced to this brand via the wonderfulness of social media, e.g Instagram.  The main thing that stands out for me with this brand are the amazing luxury hoods. They are stylish and very practical. I especially could have done for today (bloody rain!)

How awesome are these boots?! Chelsea boots are my favourites. 

I'm actually on a hunt for a new pair, so I think these might be on my wish list now. I find they add a little bit of edge to the outfit.

I am loving this brand so much. Look at how adorable and quirky this little bag is. My outfit is quite dark so I felt like we should add a little bit of colour into the mix.

OOTD: Vinyl & Pastels

Hello again you lovely people. Time for a little OOTD!

So yesterday I was a lucky lady indeed and was invited to pop along to The Filling Station for their re-launch. I shall be doing a post next week all about how my night went but if you fancy reading about how the cocktail masterclass, do check out my previous post here: Cocktails & Bloggers

So onto my outfit for the evening!

So on Wednesday I had a little wander round the shops to find an outfit and by gosh did I have a nightmare doing that. I don't know if it's me having a big mental block when it comes to fashion or just nothing taking my fancy right now, but I really struggled to begin with. I'm finding alot of clothes on the high street are just not made for my body type which is highly frustrating. I ended up in pretty much every high street shop on Princes Street, raking through the sales and full price and was about to give up till I popped into Topshop.

Bracelets: Mixture of Primark, H&M and anything I can find in my room!

The first thing I found was the pink vinyl skirt. Now, this really isn't something I would usually go for. I tend to play it safe when I am finding an outfit for the weekend or an event. I always end up with a nice skater dress or a maxi dress. Basically, I just live in dresses. So I was quite shocked when I found myself drawn to this skirt. It's such a fun colour and it does stand out with the material, and it fitted. Hurrah! 

So I decided to pair it up with this cute little crop top.

Necklace: Primark

I'm still a little wary when it comes to crop tops. The thought of showing my stomach gives me the fear but I did fall in love with this one. All I needed to do was shove on a black vest underneath and no pale slightly flabby stomach was in sight! 

I may ended up going back to Topshop and getting some more as they came in so many different colours. Would be pretty cute paired with a high waisted maxi skirt for when the nice weather comes back! (if it ever does)

Rings: Primark (again)

Okay... I am pretty rubbish when it comes to painting my nails. I think it's a mixture of cutting my nails too short and having crazy shaky hands but anyway, I just love this pastel blue colour. It's from the 60 seconds Rita Ora range, in shade Pillow Talk. When it comes to nail colours, I am more of a black or dark red sort of girl but I think this colour is just adorable for summer. Plus it really does dry so quickly which helps if you are as useless as I am!

And lastly a little selfie! 

Yes I did just use that word....

I decided to keep my make up fairly simple (let the skirt do all the talking eh?)

Simple black eyeliner, white eyeshadow and some pink lips!

Cocktails & Bloggers

What more could you want?

Hello again you lovely people. Time for a little blog post!

So, i'm a little late in doing this one. What's my excuse? Well, i'm a little lazy to be honest but here it is, finally!

So on the 11th of June, I got to pop along to the Filling Station and participate in a cocktail making masterclass. Now, I love cocktails. I enjoy making them and I very much enjoy drinking them, so this event was right up my street. 

I've always been a fan of The Filling Station. Many a time me and my lovely friend Laura went to the one on the Royal Mile and I always ended up ordering a cocktail. So I was pretty excited to be invited along to their branch in the Omni Center. 

So basically, the whole background of the event was to promote the fact they have revamped their menus and to give us lucky bloggers the chance to try out some of the new food and cocktails. 

Also next week is the re opening of the Royal Mile branch which is very exciting and you must all check out.

Now... onto how my night went!

So this was pretty much one of the first things I seen when I walked in the door. Yummy tasty food!

I was pretty much in love with the chicken covered in blue cheese sauce and the little pepperonis. To be honest, I ate alot of the little pepperonis, but shh!

One of the first things we got to do was pick a cocktail off the menu. I normally go for things like cosmos, margarita, that sort of thing but I fancied a little change. 

This bad boy was a "Cherry Cola", a wonderful mix of amaretto, vodka, rum, cola and lime juice. Now if you have been to The Filling Station, you will know it is an American themed bar and restaurant. And if you didn't know that.... well you just learned something new! 

So cherry cola seems a very "American" sort of drink, so I had to go for it. It was a very tasty little number. I quite like my cocktails to taste strong but this one wasn't actually but I still really enjoyed it. A very refreshing drink!

So once we filled our bellies was tasty food and cocktail, it was on to the masterclass!

The event was hosted by Heart Radio's Paul Harper and Andy Pearson, basically the king of cocktails. 

And did you know, the most expensive cocktail is £100,000!!

It also comes with a Ferrari.

Great deal eh?

So a few of us got to go up behind the bar and help in the making of the cocktails. I managed to get picked to make our own special "blogger cocktail"

Okay time to fess up, I was getting a little tipsy by this point. I'm not normally such a "light weight" but as some of you all know, I've not been too well. That's my excuse and I'm sticking with it.

Our blogger cocktail was called "The Edinburgh Handbag", named so because of the fact I seem to be attached to my handbag. Now remember I had tipsy brain here, but I believe the drink consisted of peach vodka, cointreau and raspberry. 

It was damn tasty anyway!

So I'm going to rap this little post up with some photos of the night

 I really recommended that you all pop along to your nearest Filling Station restaurant and bar, order yourself a cheeky wee cocktail and have a munch! The bar staff that we met were very friendly and ridiculously talented. You won't be disappointed.

Eyeko London Skinny Liquid Eyeliner Review

So I've never really done a review before but going to give it a little go. So I've seen a few people talking about this on Twitter etc and it seems to be getting alot of mixed reviews. 

Eyeko is a brand that I have never really came across before, so I had no idea what to expect but Glamour Magazine are giving this one away this month. Honestly I never have much luck with free gifts in magazines, especially when its eye make up but I was pleasantly surprised with this. 

I'm a big liquid eyeliner fan, mainly due to the fact I find that Kohl and gel ones tend to rub away very easily on my eyes. I'm pretty sure I have "sweaty eyelids" or something, as no matter what, my eyeliner tends to smudge alot. 

So to start off with, I really like the simplicity of the packaging. It's very sleek and it's very easy to wipe down if you managed to get eyeliner actually on it (trust me it can happen) 

My big concern with it comes to these styles of liquid eyeliners, is what the nib is going to be like. I tend to my eyeliner thickish, think more 60s chic rather than Amy Winehouse boldness.  So I never want something that is going to be too thin. 

I was pretty impressed with this. Not too thick and not too thin, it was just right. Not too sound too Goldilocks like. 

I noticed in other reviews of this product, that people found they had to press hard to actually get the liquid out but I, personally, didn't have that problem. At first it was maybe a little dry, but once it got going I loved it.

I found the colour to be very bold and opaque. Exactly what I look for to be honest. 

Now to be fair, I've only worn it one day but as some of you had to deal with, yesterday was pretty damn hot. Perfect day to test out an eyeliner I think.

A nice hot sunny day is wonderful but can be a nightmare when it comes to make up, especially if you suffer from "sweaty eye syndrome" (yeah I'm making it a thing)

So I took a couple of, slightly drunk, photos of how my eyeliner looked at the end of the evening:

So as you can see it held up pretty well. There was a little light smudging at the top of my lids but that is easily fixed in all fairness. I was more impressed with how my flicks stayed. I'm not going to lie, I'm really not the best when it comes to keeping a steady hand for when I do make up. My flicks tend to get the rough deal of it all, but I really found this product easy to use.

So there you go, in a nutshell, I was very impressed. It does seem to be causing a Marmite experience for most people but for only £2 to get Glamour Magazine along with the eyeliner, it's worth trying out!

I believe the original product costs £12, so it's a bargain!

I've noticed they also do a blue version, which I may try for a little twist on the classic thick black line.

Crabtree & Eveyln Blogger Event

Hello again!

Last week I had the fantastic chance to attend the Crabtree & Evelyn Handy Tips blogger event at their Hanover Street shop in Edinburgh. I was made aware of their event and campaign from the fantastic Scott Harry Emery, a fashion & lifestyle blogger. You should all check him out at: ScottNothingToDoWithYou

To the basis of The Handy Tips campaign is to share those trusted beauty tips that have been handed down to us from mothers, grandmothers, sisters etc. Funnily enough my handy tip came from my other half!

One of the best parts of their campaign is that you can walk into one of their amazing shops, write down your tip on one of these adorable little leaf cards:

Once you've done that, then you get to stick your tip on the tree for everyone to share and hopefully try out. It's a wonderful idea. 

Plus once you've shared your tip, you can get a £5 voucher to spend on their brilliant products.

Now I'm not going to lie, I have never tried any Crabtree & Evelyn products before. I knew my mum was a fan but personally I had never been in one of the shops. I can safely say I am now obsessed with them now.

The Edinburgh store has a wondeful look inside. Very vintage style which totally appeals to me. It's very bright and welcoming aswell, plus the staff I got to meet were beyond lovely. 

The first thing I got to see in the shop was the wonderful little table they had set up for us.

 After a little drink, a nibble and a chat with the amazing other bloggers who were invited, I had a little wander around the shop. The range of products they had was amazing. I especially was in love with all their pomegranate products.

I have to say a massive thanks to all the staff in the shop. They were wonderfully helpful and I even got a little hand treatment.  I left with the softest hands in the world.

All in all, it was a fantastic evening and gave me the chance to meet other fellow bloggers. When I first started blogging, I was so worried about entering this community but you have all just blown me away. If you are reading this and want to start a blog, you really should. The community is full of the most welcoming and kindest people I have met.
